The DIAMETER Gateway is an application that works as a gateway, interpreting a standard HTTPS GET request into the credit control message (DIAMETER Credit Control Request). The response message (DIAMETER Credit Control Answer) also interprets into a text message returning in the HTTPS response.
In this implementation, the application uses SSL layer from both HTTP and DIAMETER.
The application provides an opportunity for any equipment, providing the service to the end user to interact through HTTPS with the provider hardware supporting the DIAMETER Credit Control Request.
Brief Description
This gateway is designed for service providers who want to provide a controlled way of a dynamic online tariffication for partners implementing operator or content services, and provides the possibility of subscribers’ charges based on the following methods:
1) Quoting (Reservation, re-reservation, debt);
2) Direct write off;
3) Balance checking;
4) Service cost request
The gateway can be integrated with any billing equipment supporting the DIAMETER Credit Control Request.
The DIAMETER Credit Control Request protocol offers the following benefits to content providers:
1) Because of the open protocol the DIAMETER Gateway can be integrated with any system of content provider (with HTTPS support) and with any operator‘s system (with DIAMETER Credit Control Request support).
2) On the basis of provided accrual methods there can be implemented any logic of subscriber service provision.
3) Protection of data transmitted over open networks. Data between the content provider equipment, gateway and operator’s equipment can be transmitted using SSL that prevents unauthorized access.
Functionality
The DIAMETER Gateway provides the ability to use the methods of credit control through HTTP requests from the content provider equipment.
The universality of the system is its ability to use HTTP commands suitable to the credit control methods, with different set of input HTTP parameters, which, in turn, are described in the DIAMETER AVP sets.
